Verdict against Shawkan issued

Yesterday, the Cairo Criminal Court issued its verdict against Shawkan as part of the Rabaa case. The court sentenced Shawkan to five years in prison. As he has already spent more than five years in prison, then he will be released soon! The release process takes some time though, but hopefully he will be released within a week or two.

We will be issuing a formal UA update when Shawkan’s released, closing the action, but please do no longer send the authorities appeals calling for Shawkan’s release as this would be counterproductive.
